When Your Home Needs a Bath Pressure Washing is the Answer

You’ve probably never considered washing your home, and you’ve probably thought that a good rain would do the job for you. If you live in California, good luck, because you’re going to need it. Sure there are times when it rains hard in California, and it will wash off a good portion of the stuff that gathers.

However, look closer and you’ll probably find mold and mildew gathering in the corners even after a good rain. More often than not, that rain will not be hard enough to loosen the dirt and grime that has had a chance to take root on the outside of your home. You know what dirt and water makes don’t you? Sure you do and you’ll have mud along with leaves, bird droppings, and anything that pops onto your roof falling off right at your feet. All right, so take your ordinary garden hose and spray it against the house, on your windows and screens. You’ll see lots of dirt drift down to the ground along with an accumulation of everything else including spider webs.

There are better answers to your garden hose, and a professional company that deals in pressure washing is a good choice. When they come regularly to your home environment, they do the job that you’ve put off for years. You can rent a pressure washer, but you still may have problems with the amount of pressure needed to eradicate all that stuff. Too much pressure will cause windows to break; not enough pressure won’t get the job done. The professional pressure washer will know the amount of pressure to clean your entire home, your roof, your gutters, your windows, doors and screens.

Then they will turn that pressure on your patio, deck, furniture, walkways. Within minutes instead of hours your home will once again be clean, and surprise, it has that new look that you so admired when you first moved in. Your home will be the pride of the neighborhood, and when you keep it that way it will benefit your pocket book as well. When mold, mildew, dirt and grime don’t get a chance to grow, they don’t cause your home to decay and erode. Your home will retain its value and when the time comes for you to sell the curb appeal from a well kept home will benefit you greatly.

Don’t wait though, call that pressure washing company today and get started before winter sets in by giving your home a bath, and you won’t be sorry.

Pressure Wash All Around Your Home

That’s right, Pressure Wash not just your home, but all around your home. To keep the dirt, grime, mildew and other stuff off your walkways, patio furniture, patios and decks follow a few simple tricks to accomplish that task. The best and easiest way is to consult a professional who will advise you in the proper procedures to keep your property in new condition by using a pressure washer.

Whether you hire that professional, rent a power washer or purchase your own, you should still have a bit of knowledge to help in getting the job done. You’ll find out quickly that when you use the pressure washer regularly it becomes easier every time, and you can’t beat the end results.

When your walkways have been exposed to the elements for months on end, the easiest and fastest way to clean them and to keep them looking good is to power wash them. Otherwise the dirt and grime clings to the edges and eventually cause damage to the cement.

When you power wash the walkways use a washing cleaning detergent specifically for power washers on cement surfaces.

The reason you need to pressure wash your patio and deck is to keep the mildew and mold from taking up residence. Unless it is cleaned properly it may cause permanent damage including fading and/or cracking. Regular pressure washing will assure you that it will remain in good condition.

When you power wash your patio or deck, be sure to use either a 2400 or 2600 PSI pressure-washing nozzle. If you use less, it won’t get the job done, and more could cause damage to the patio surface.

If you live in a climate where your patio furniture remains outside all year, your chairs and patio tables still sit in the rain, wind, dust and dirt the entire time. They not only fade, but accumulate a coat of grime that will transfer to your clothing when you sit down. Power washing will keep them clean and looking good too.

When you power wash your patio furniture use the low-pressure level so you won’t knock the furniture over. Especially be careful when washing the glass tops of your tables.

If it all seems like a lot of work, and you have neither time nor inclination to pressure wash all around your home, hire a professional. They will get the job done quickly especially when you have unexpected company on their way.

Cleaning Window Tracks

He is in the minds of many a layperson, window cleaning is simply wetting, soaping up, rinsing, and then the drying of windows. Of course expressing this assessment to a professional is likely to yield laughter and even a raised eyebrow. The reaction professionals express is often brought about as a result of their extensive knowledge. Any professional will tell you cleaning windows involves much more than the aforementioned steps.

The most commonly overlooked aspect of window cleaning within a home by laypersons is window tracks. When individuals clean their own windows they will usually ignore it their window tracks. Professionals on the other hand recognize the importance of cleaning window tracks. When left unattended for long periods of time, window tracks can become riddled with not only dirt but things like dead insects, small rocks that they make opening and closing a window difficult, and in some cases mold as well.

After cleaning and drying windows professional window cleaners will utilize different tools and materials in order clean window tracks. It's not uncommon to witness professionals utilizing things like a minivac, an old tooth or wire brush, cleaning rags, and specialized cleaning chemicals. Used in conjunction with one another, these things can keep window tracks looking just as clean and just as new as professionally cleaned windows.

Window tracks that are kept clean not only add to the aesthetic beauty of professionally cleaned windows but make windows easier to open and reduce the danger of trying to open windows that get stuck in their tracks.

Cleaning Windows With Purified Water

There are a lot of different methods, chemicals, and tools that people can utilize to clean their windows. Everything from the right squeegee, soft cloth, cleaning solution, and even stroke can make or break the end result of a window cleaning project. What many individuals often overlook when the time comes to clean their windows is the quality of the water they'll be using.

Different types of water can be found in different neighborhoods and will vary greatly from even home to home. Should a homeowner be savvy enough to know which tools and chemicals to utilize for a window cleaning they still may not have the type of water needed to produce the end results they are looking for. Hard water for example may look fine as it is leaving the hose and running down the window but hard water contains high levels of calcium which can promote streaks and spots on even recently cleaned windows. It also causes buildup over time.

In sharp contrast to hard water and other types of less than desirable water, pure water is the most sought-after type of water in professional window cleaning circles. This is because pure water has all its impurities removed long before it ever reaches the hands of professional cleaners and removes soap and debris from windows far better than tapwater.

Most professional cleaners will have a solid understanding and extensive knowledge of how osmosis is used to purified water and how and why purified water cleans windows far more effectively than any other type of liquid. In a nutshell reverse osmosis removes things I calcium, magnesium, sodium, and even iron from water softening it dramatically and removing things that can scratch, damage, and make windows difficult to clean.

Do-it-yourselfers rarely, if ever, give much thought to the water they are using during a window cleaning project. Furthermore it can be difficult for do-it-yourselfers to obtain purified water especially in any meaningful quantity. Professionals on the other hand generally have access to this type of water and even when they don't can adjust their cleaning techniques accordingly.

What Are These Yellow Dots On My windows?

There are a great many things that can cause a window to lose its luster and its clarity. Among them, though rarely spoken of, are little yellow spots. Californians often notice these golden dots all over their cars and homes windows. During certain times of the year these dots will appear in greater numbers making windows look ugly and unkempt. Left untreated these dots can also impede visibility. Not only are they aesthetically displeasing but they are often difficult to remove from windows as well. Despite their commonality and the difficulty people have in removing them, most individuals have no idea what they are or where they come from.

Many individuals believe that they are a substance that falls with morning dew or one that is brought in by rain and other various types of precipitation. What many are surprised to learn however is that these yellow/gold dots found on car and home windows are actually bee excrement. You read right, these yellow and gold dots are the remnants of the pollen that bees consume.

Owners of vehicles can simply move or park their vehicles in a different location, one that's further away from bees but homeowners don't have the luxury of moving their abode to a different location. Although bee droppings are notoriously difficult to clean they don't actually pose any long-term risk to a home's windows and can therefore be cleaned both by homeowners and professional window cleaners. Hiring a professional window cleaner to remove be droppings from a home's windows will always yield greater results and may also see some protective coatings added just after cleaning which make removing future droppings easier. Do-it-yourselfers can also remove be droppings but it will require time, money, and patientce.

Professional window cleaners will have greater success with windows covered in be droppings simply because they have the tools and chemicals necessary to remove just about anything from windows and the experienced hands needed to avoid damaging windows in the process. Things like pressure washers and different chemical soaps can be used both separately and in conjunction with one another remove the little gifts bees leave behind on a homes window. Do-it-yourselfers will quickly find that they will need to invest in expensive tools and chemicals should they wish to remove be droppings from their windows frequently.

Repairing Your Screens

Yes, it is possible to repair your screens, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to do the job. A do-it-yourself handyman can accomplish the job easily, but it does take a bit of patience and skill. A few simple tools will help as well and get them before you even start the job. You won’t want to leave the window open minus the screen, so prepare in advance and your local hardware store should have what you’ll need.

For any size hole whether large or small you should be able to make the basic patch. Cut the replacement screen, and pick up the large sewing needle. You’ll need that needle to darn the new screen into place. While you’re sewing think of your grandmother or great grandmother. Chances are they used that process all the time to repair clothing or even socks. Just because clothing had a hole in it was no reason to throw it away, they darned everything. However instead of string or thread, you’ll use a piece of the new screen to sew the new patch into place.

There comes a time when the entire screen needs replacing. If the frame is still in relatively good condition, you’ll need to buy a roll of screen large enough to cover the entire area. Cut it a bit larger than the frame of the screen. You’ll also need spline material and also a spline tool. You’ll find it easier to use a little glue that will hold the screen in place. Just in case you’ve never heard of spline or a spline tool, it is a rubber material that will fit in the groove that will hold the screen in the frame securely.

Now, we got the cart before the horse, and we’re going to tell you the necessary tools to get the job done. Surprise, you’ll need a new piece of screen for the smaller repairs, and a much larger piece to replace the entire screen that probably comes in rolls. You’ll need the spline, the spline tool, a bit of glue, that large sewing needle, and you’ll need something to cut the new screen material to the correct size.

If you still don’t want to tackle the job, go online and you can find a window screen repair contractor. They can get that job done easily, and will do other things around your home that you’ve been putting off. They’re worth every penny they charge, but usually it’s more like dollar. Does anyone use pennies anymore?

Don't Forget Your Awning

Now that the weather is beginning to cool many homeowners have began spending more time indoors and less time on their patios under an awning. While the weather in some locations still permits outdoor relaxation, the vast majority of homeowners have already begun to ignore their patio and awning.

Before any homeowner completely forgets that their awning is there and all of the relaxation and it provided them with, homeowners should remember to have their awnings cleaned before winter sets in. A summer's worth of usage means it's likely that an awning will show signs of wear and tear. Things like debris fallen from trees, dirt and dust that have settled or been blown there by summer winds, and even children's toys may all be present on an awning at the beginning of autumn.

Cleaning awnings however is a chore and one that most homeowners wish to avoid whenever possible. Some downright ignore their dirty awning and let winter take its toll, rendering an awning almost useless the following spring. The good news is that homeowners don't have to dread cleaning their awnings and don't even have to put any effort into it at all. By simply contacting us today for a free estimate we can give you a good idea what it will cost and how quickly we can clean your awning and even help you preserve it for next spring and summer.

Prepare Your Building For Fall And Winter

Although the calendar says that autumn has arrived, summer is still with us though this doesn't mean that home and business owners shouldn't worry about things like windows, rain gutters, and even screens.

The nights and the mornings have already begun to cool considerably which means it won't be long before home and business owners begin opening windows during the day to let in some fresh cool air. These people cannot do that however if screens are broken or in need of repair. Calling in a professional to have screens repaired and replaced on-site will save time and hassle and allow for immediate usage.

Home and business owners with rain gutters on their property should use this time of year to have their rain gutters examined and cleaned. Rain gutters that are full of debris or broken can be detrimental to a home and even a commercial structure. The results from clogged or damaged rain gutters is often water damage to the exterior of a building and sometimes the interior is well. Flooding is also not an unlikely scenario

The beginning of autumn typically represents a time when temperatures begin to cool and there is very little precipitation to worry about. This makes it a great time for home and business owners to have their windows cleaned by a professional. A professional window cleaning also give windows a protective coating which will go a long way in helping them so great throughout the late fall and winter.

Should you have any questions about our services or should you wish to contact us for a free estimate please be sure to contact us that we may be of assistance.

Easy Methods of Cleaning Glass Shower Doors

Pick a chore that you least like to do, and cleaning glass shower doors would be right at the top of the list. Especially if you have never been in the habit of cleaning it right after you take your shower. If more than one person showers in the stall or tub, you’ve got a problem.

First you’ll have to tackle the job from a professional’s point of view, and you’ll need to know what you’re up against.

Do you have hard water? If so you probably have hard water stains. There are products at your grocery or hardware stores. One is called CLR, it is powerful, and hopefully you’ll only have to use it once. Just follow the directions, or if you don’t want to use harsh chemicals, try lemon oil. It works well to remove those stains. Then go to the next step.

Soap scum and grime or just plain dirt. Again there are products that work to remove the scum and dirt. They are available at those same stores mentioned above. Again, if you prefer more natural products, not to mention cheaper, try mixing ½ cup of white vinegar and ½ cup of hot water. Run the hot water in your bathroom to create steam. Then apply the mixture on your glass shower doors and let it sit for a minimum of five minutes. Wipe it down with a clean wet sponge or if you prefer, use a squeegee.

You can continue using these methods every time you can’t see through the glass shower door. Or a much easier process, and one that will keep the door and the walls of your shower clean, wipe them down every time you or someone else uses the shower. Insist that everyone in your family does the same thing.

After you’ve cleaned the shower with those harsh chemicals, wipe it thoroughly down with the lemon oil, and apply it regularly. Then all you’ll need to do is rinse the glass shower door and the walls in your shower with a clean damp cloth or squeegee. You’ll be amazed how much easier it is to keep the glass shower door clean.

There is another way though. If you hire a professional to clean the windows in your home, ask how much more it would cost to clean your glass shower doors. Surely there is someone who will do it for a price.

Regular Cleaning Prevents Gutter Repairs

Remember that old saying ‘a stitch in time, saves nine?’ The same rule applies and the easiest way to prevent gutter repairs, that could be costly, is to hire a professional to take care of the smaller details in the care of your home. You may be saving a great deal of money in the long run.

Your house gutters are designed to catch rain on the roof of your home, take it off the roof, down the downspout, and away from the home. An extension may be necessary in order to keep the water from collecting by at least 5 feet from the foundation. When the gutters get clogged with leaves, clutter and possibly even dead birds you’ll have problems unless the gutters are cleaned before the next rainfall.
The resulting water settling on your foundation can cause innumerable damage to wood siding, brick, and may even flood basements. That is why regular gutter cleaning is advantageous.

Those clogs will act like a dam and instead of the water running off the roof, it will run right into your attic and you’ll see it running down your walls and onto your floors on the inside of your home. If the downspout is damaged or is no longer attached it may need to be replaced. In some instances new longer screws may take care of the problem. Those screws or brackets can also be used to repair sagging gutters, and seam sealant can often seal a leaking gutter. If the rain has damaged wood it may need to be replaced, and rotting wood attracts termites.

Older homes that have not been cleaned or serviced regularly may need the entire system replaced. The necessity of taking care of problems as they surface will keep the gutter system working sufficiently.

Neglect is the biggest cause of damage in house gutters. No one wants to deal with them; they are out of sight and often out of mind. Some leave them alone until the destructive water forces them to either do the work themselves or hire a professional.

There are professional cleaning services that will take care of your house gutters on a regular basis. They will find and repair many problems without the costs of replacing the entire system. Once or twice each year should be enough to clear out the debris, and regular cleaning results in the gutter system working properly.

Hard Water Spot Removal

If you’ve ever tried to get rid of hard water spots, you know how difficult the job is. In the southwest the water is naturally hard due to minerals like calcium, magnesium, or compounds like sulfates and bicarbonates. Makes you want to order bottled water doesn’t it. Here are a few simple ideas to rid your windows of the spots caused by hard water, but the easiest ways to get rid of those spots is to wash them off as soon as you notice them. That isn’t always the easiest thing to do.

We’ll list several items you can mix with water and many are 50% to 50% like water and white vinegar, if the spots have been there for a while, try pure white vinegar, and omit the water. You might want to wear gloves because some of the items might be harsh on your skin.

Use this method by soaking a towel in the mixture and wiping the area down. Keep the towel very wet and soak it on the window if at all possible. Then rinse and hopefully your hard water spots are gone. Use the towel like an eraser on a blackboard, and apply pressure where needed. You can also spray some of the mixtures directly on your window or shower doors.

Other items to mix with water besides vinegar are lemon juice because of its acidic content, and baking soda is another good cleaning agent. Mix the soda into a paste and apply to the window, let it sit for a few seconds, then wipe and rinse clean.

Rubbing alcohol, toothpaste, yes I said toothpaste, powdered dishwashing detergent, and ammonia are all suggestions. Be careful with ammonia, never mix it with other chemicals like bleach because that is dangerous and can cause lung damage.

Some say cola is good for cleaning hard spots off your windows, but that may attract ants. Any type of acid is also dangerous and can cause irreparable damage to your clothing or furnishings. Steel wool may also help and use it to polish the glass and it shouldn’t scratch it.

If all else fails, try using commercial window cleaners. The only other option you may have is to cover those windows with curtains or blinds so you can’t see the hard spots. The final solution may be to replace the glass in the window. If you do that, be sure that water does not hit the window or you’ll have to start all over again.

Clever Window Cleaning Solutions

When a homeowner is unable to afford a professional window cleaning service they have no choice but to handle the difficult task on their own. While the majority of homeowners are doing a decent job in cleaning their homes windows, many end up with less than favorable results after a long day of hard work. Homeowners however can avoid less than optimal results by keeping a few things in mind.

Window streaks are one of the biggest concerns homeowners have when cleaning their own windows. A days worth of hard work can be negated by streaks which can lead to further cleaning, time wasted, and frustration. In order to avoid streaks homeowners should try to clean their homes windows when the specific windows aren't in direct sunlight. Homeowners should also utilize a squeegee specifically designed for window washing as these usually have smooth soft rubber edges that are designed to eliminate streaking.

Many homeowners will tell you that they hate washing their homes windows simply because they become dirty shortly after a thorough cleaning. This can certainly be disparaging but can be prevented by applying a small amount of floor wax to problem windows. The floor wax will prevent moisture from gathering as well as debris and help keep windows clean for a longer period of time.

There are some homeowners who find mildew growing on or around their window frames during the cleaning of their windows. In order to keep build up from growing further or spreading to other parts of the home, homeowners need to simply apply a small amount of bleach and laundry detergent to the affected areas and wipe it away with a cloth, some gloves, and a bit of water.

Many homeowners often ignore their window blinds until they go to clean their own windows. It is usually at this point that homeowners realize their window blinds are a dust magnet. In order to keep window blinds cleaned for longer periods of time homeowners can actually utilize a antistatic spray to achieve longer periods of window blind cleanliness. Spraying a solution on window blinds immediately after their cleaning will promote prolonged period of cleanliness.

The interiors of windows usually stay cleaner than the exteriors. Some homeowners however will notice that their interior windows become dirty just as quickly as they do on the outside. If this happening a home owner should first check their air conditioning/heating filter to ensure that it is free from debris and has not remained in use past its shelf date. These filters should be changed every three months in order to ensure that the air in a home remains dust and debris free. A clean air filter will help keep the interiors of a homes windows cleaner for longer periods of time.

Cleaning windows is always a chore and one that most homeowners would prefer to avoid whenever possible. If calling in a professional isn't in the budget of a homeowner following the aforementioned tips can help them keep their windows clean for longer periods of time and spend less time cleaning them when the time comes to do so.

Summer Window Cleaning: Planning Ahead

There are a lot of things that can there are a lot of things that can "dirty up windows" year-round. In the winter things like precipitation and debris from winds and other inclement weather make keeping windows clean somewhat difficult. In the summer however the extreme heat and humidity can increase the mold and mildew count in air dramatically. The thicker these things become the more likely it is that they will begin growing on a homes windows.

Of course calling in a professional during the summer is the first choice of many homeowners however due to budgetary reasons some homeowners may have no choice but to keep their windows clean themselves. Cleaning a home's windows in the summertime presents a great number of challenges to the layperson, challenges which must be met if a homeowner wants their windows looking clean and healthy.

During the summertime homeowners need to keep a close eye on their windows and look for spots on windows that are turning green or blotchy. This can be a sign of mold and mildew growth. While not all windows on a home will grow mildew and mold during the summertime all are susceptible to it because of the high heat and humidity so homeowners must remain vigilant throughout the entire season.

Mold and mildew aside there are other challenges homeowners must face when cleaning windows in the summertime. Selecting chemicals, soaps, tools, and keeping a close eye on hydration, personal safety, and even streaks are all very important. The summertime and its extreme heat can present homeowners with a unique challenge that they won't face during other seasons. The high heat and humidity not only promote mold and mildew growth but make drying windows a chore. While in the winter, and even spring months of the year windows can be washed and dried rather easily summer window cleaning will see soaps and chemicals often dry out rather quickly during the summer months of the year which means an individual must re-wash them immediately to avoid streaks, dried soap marks, and even hard water stains.

In order to properly clean their own windows during the summer homeowners should spend some time formulating a plan of attack. Such plans might include cleaning the windows of a home before sunrise or at least in the early morning hours before the sun has a chance to begin baking a home, and/or working at dusk or just after sunset. Other plans might include involving other family members to help so that windows can be dried quickly and properly. Family members can even split up and tackle different parts of a home in order to expedite the project. Deciding on which type of chemicals and tools to use in advance will also make cleaning windows in the summer less arduous and can even make the job run smoother and more efficiently.

Nobody wants to spend time working outside of their home during the hottest months of the year but by planning in advance and knowing what to look for prior to undertaking any job homeowners can complete the job much quicker than normal and doing so will ensure better end results as well.

The Battle For Clean Glass Shower Doors

Regardless of the type, cleaning windows is always a chore. Granted some windows are more difficult to clean than others but perhaps none are more difficult than glass shower doors. Glass shower doors can quickly lose their luster even after a short amount of time due to hard water stains. The calcium build up left behind by shower water is bad enough but when you take into consideration things like soap scum, dead skin, and even hair it's not difficult to see why these types of "windows" are so arduous to clean.
Due to the difficult nature of cleaning shower doors and even keeping them free from any or all of the aforementioned issues some homeowners will turn to professional window cleaners for assistance. While this is always a good idea simply because the results they produce are phenomenal, not every homeowner is financially capable of hiring a professional.

In scenarios where a homeowner either can't afford to hire professional window cleaner or would just prefer to do the job themselves, there are a few things that they can do to make cleaning glass shower doors less difficult, less frustrating, and less time-consuming. The first and perhaps most important of these being regular cleanings. A homeowner who utilizes a simple squeegee can reduce the amount of build up on their glass shower doors by simply wiping off the shower door immediately after completing their shower. Doing so will wipe away not only water but all the other debris mentioned previously as well. While calcium buildup will still occur as will other types of debris, this will keep shower doors looking clean for a greater length of time and it will reduce the need for hard cleanings.

Homeowners looking for a secret weapon in the battle against dirty shower doors will be happy to learn that they can keep their shower doors extremely clean not only by utilizing a squeegee on a regular basis but by utilizing fabric softener sheets as well. Nearly every homeowner has fabric softener sheets in their home and the sheets are designed to soften water deposits. Therefore by rubbing them all over a glass shower door homeowners can dramatically reduce the amount of hard water deposits/calcium  buildup that gather on their shower doors. This will keep their shower doors from looking cloudy and if used in conjunction with a squeegee after showers, will negate the need for any type of cleaning that requires any large amount of time.

Professional Window Cleaning Advantages

Cleaning windows, be them part of a residence or part of a commercial structure, is a dirty job inside and out. It's also a very physically demanding job especially during those months of the year that are extremely cold or hot. Despite the many trepidations individuals may have regarding the cleaning of their windows, the fact remains that windows must be cleaned if they are to not only look good but allow in proper lighting and function as a part of a structure's climate control.

It isn't difficult to find an excuse to avoid cleaning windows which is why some people turn to professional window cleaners to get the job done. While this isn't and always the cheapest route the ends justifies the means if for no other reason than the layperson gets to avoid having to do a difficult job. While some people may remain apprehensive even after considering the physical and chronological demands of cleaning their windows, many eventually recognize that the pros of hiring a professional window cleaner far outweigh the cons and come to realize that paying someone to do this type of work is well worth every penny.

Even the most physically capable of persons will find the number of advantages in hiring a professional window cleaner enough to justify their hiring. The first and sometimes most obvious advantage is the end results. 99.9% of the time professional window cleaners are going to deliver far greater results than even the most dedicated layperson. Just as a professional auto detailer would do to showroom vehicles, professional window cleaners can bring out a "showroom shine" on just about any type of window. These types of windows will leave any structure they are part of looking far more warm and attractive than those at the windows cleaned by lay persons.

As cleaning windows often requires more time than most individuals are willing to spend on them, those that attempt to clean their windows themselves often end up cutting corners midway through the job in order to reach the finish line just a little bit earlier. Professional window cleaners cut no corners and are meticulous in their work. Getting windows clean and making them shine like new requires a lot of time; time that most people would rather spend doing something they enjoy. Hiring a professional window cleaner allows a homeowner and owners of commercial structures to do something else with their time.

There was once a time when professional window cleaners were far more expensive than they are now. As the technologies that enable professionals to do their job have improved, prices have fallen and many companies want to be as competitive as possible and therefore go to great lengths to offer deals to outdo their competition. It's also important to remember that do-it-yourselfers will spend a great deal of not only time but money as well. The cost of professional cleaning solutions, static free rags, squeegees, extension poles, and other equipment gets expensive quickly. Hiring a professional means individual will be paying mainly for labor and it negates the need to purchase tools and chemicals for themselves.

One of the biggest advantages that often goes overlooked in hiring a professional window cleaner is that many not only clean windows but offer a myriad of other services as well. Things like pressure washing, screen door repair, glass repair and restoration, and even the cleaning of things like lighting fixtures can save home and business owners a lot of time and money. Additionally these same companies sometimes offer service packages that include these additional services as part of their routine window cleaning services.

Repairing A Screen Door

Despite the many apprehensions individuals have regarding replacing screens on their screen doors, the process isn't particularly difficult to complete. In fact so simple is this type of project that even the most un-savvy of individuals will be able to complete it. Before beginning this type of project however individuals will want to make sure that they have all the tools and materials necessary so as to avoid having to start, stop, and restart a job which can lead to frustration and subpar work.
The first thing that individuals want to do when they have a screen that needs replacing is purchase a screen repair tool. The majority of people will be familiar with this tool as it consists of a handle in the middle and two wheels on the ends of the handle. Next after carefully measuring the screen door in need of repair individuals will need to visit a home improvement store and purchase a screen that overlaps their door a bit. Usually a couple of inches on each side of the door is enough. These extra few inches will allow for mistakes as well as some slack during the re-screening process. Anyone repairing a screen door should also have a utility knife handy and a pair of pliers as well.

Once all of the tools and materials have been procured an individual will want to remove the the actual screen door from its track and then remove the damaged screen. While lying the screen door on the ground screen spline will need to be located and pulled out. While some splines will be wedged into the groove tightly a putty/utility knife can be used to dig it out. Once one portion of the screen spline is pulled from its groove pulling the rest out by hand is a cinch.

Once a screen gasket/spline has been removed an individual will want to remove the screen from the door and simply discard it. A torn screen is irreparable and with a new screen on hand there's no reason to hold onto any portion of the old screen. Once the old screen has then discarded an individual will want to lie the new screen over their door. The new screen should be laid down so that at least two inches extend beyond the doors gasket groove.

Once the new screen has been properly laid over the door an individual will next need to lay the gasket on top of it grooves. While is virtually impossible and unnecessary to lay it perfectly over a doors grooves, getting a close makes the job all the more easier. Once the gasket has been laid down the rolling screen repair tool should be run over the gasket so that it goes firmly back into the doors grooves. One hand should roll the gasket while the other guides the remaining gasket into its groove.
After the gasket has been ruled firmly back into place in individual should run their screen rolling tool over the entire gasket one last time to ensure that their new screen will be firmly held in place. After this has been completed a screen door can be put back on its track and utilized freely.

Window Washing Pro Tips

If you’re washing your own windows, you may want to see how the pros wash theirs. Here are a few tips from the pros. You’ll first notice how fast they get the job done. For one thing, they don’t stop to talk to the neighbors, or answer their phones while working. One of the most important, they have everything they need right at their fingertips. They never have to stop to search for a clean cloth or sponge and their win-dows will be free of streaks, scratches and of course dirt.

Often the pro has a spray bottle, but on the outside they may use your garden hose and spray the window first from the bottom up first, then the top down. This clears the window, the window sill, and the material around your window. This rinses away not only the dirt and grime, but also tiny spiders that live around your window. Then they apply the spray that is already pre-mixed.

Many then use their trusty squeegee and wipe the spray from top to bottom. They then dry the excess mixture from the squeegee with a towel attached at their waist. The squeegee then goes back to the top of the window and down, again and again until the window is completely clean.

If you’re cleaning your own windows, you probably have just got the nozzle on the hose, and the pro is com-pletely done with the window including the screen that he set at the side.

Not all pros follow this method. They may use a couple of clean dry towels to dry the window, and the other one to shine it. Shining a window is very important and it isn’t complete until it shines like a million dollars. If million dollars shine.

When high windows are involved, the pro will use other methods and often have a pressure machine that he applies easily.

Another don’t is they never use harsh chemicals, scrapers, scrubbers, or sharp objects to get your windows shining, and they don’t leave a mess around each window.

The easiest way to wash your windows using the pro tips is by hiring the pro. The professional window washer will get the job done before you even get all your own tools set out. The best part, the entire window will be clean inside and out.

To be sure you get the very best, hire the pro that is licensed and insured. Besides you’ll be helping our economy.

Cleaning Stucco

Stucco is not that hard to clean, even if it has a decorative finish, and you can use the same method to clean painted stucco as you do when you clean unpainted surfaces. We will start by explaining the methods used on the outside stucco walls. If you have recently installed or repaired the stucco, don’t use this method.

Before you begin to clean, spray the entire wall with the garden hose starting from the bottom first. Be sure to saturate the whole area. If there is a stain that does not wash off immediately, you may have to wash it with a mixture of ½ cup of dish detergent and ½ cup of washing detergent in two gallons of water.

Use a soft bristled cleaning brush. Dip the brush into the soap mixture described above and scrub very gently. Do the entire area if needed. Don’t let the soap mixture dry, and rinse it clean using a garden hose with a high-pressured nozzle. Rinse from the top down and be sure to saturate the entire area making sure the soap, dirt and grime are totally gone.

Remember stucco is very porous and whatever you use as a cleaning agent may damage the stucco itself. You can also use pressure washers to clean away the grime from your stucco home; however you need to be very careful that you don't chip away the stucco during this process.

If there is ever damage to your stucco, you need to have it repaired promptly because of the nature of the stucco. If you allow the damage to remain without repair, mold and rot may occur, and it may cause serious damage to the foundation and structure of your home.

You need to remove the stain quickly whenever your stucco receives stain. There are times when teenagers may think it is great fun to egg your home. Eggs drying in the sun can do irreparable damage to your home.

As you seek to keep your home in good condition, it may be to your advantage to hire a professional to clean your stucco walls. There are many that specialize in this service and they make sure that the stucco on your home is not damaged. They identify the areas that need treatment.

A reputable company also has the ability to spray on a conditioner to protect your stucco from further damage. This will keep your home as the pride of the neigh-borhood.

How to Care and Clean Window Tint

Like anything else, if you treat it right, it will last for years, and that’s true of the window tint on your home or business. It is basically the same product, and especially right after the window tint’s installed that is the time to be the most cautious.

You shouldn’t even touch it for the first five days. Warn everyone around you not to touch it, or lean against it, or peer out of it, and keep children away from it during that curing period. For at least thirty days, that’s 30 days, don’t try to clean it especially with harsh chemicals. Of course curing time depends a lot on the weather and climate where you live. Inclement weather shouldn’t hurt the tint because it is on the inside of your windows, but bet you knew that.

Just because the window tint is on your window you may think you can apply stickers to it, and why not? Mainly because when you remove those stickers, you remove the window tint too. Not a good idea. Suction cups are another no-no, and bumper stickers belong on the bumper.

With new tint on a home or businesses window's individuals make take precations against people with wandering fingers/hands. A movement against the window tint can cause a wrinkle, a tear, or a pinprick that will grow bigger over time.

We’ve told you what not to do; now we’ll tell you the proper way to care and clean your window tint, so listen up. Soap and water works well on window tint, but window cleaner from your grocer or hardware store has ammonia and that’s not good. Clean with a soft cloth, sponge, paper towels from your house. Stay away from the brown paper towels, newspapers, or stiff cloths.

If you’re considering installing the window tint yourself, unless you’ve had experience doing that job, it’s probably best left to the professional. You’ve seen blotched jobs where the tint wrinkles, doesn’t fit from window frame to window frame, and is just a mess. When you watch the professional install the window tint, it looks so easy, all you have to do is stretch it across the window, get the air bubbles out of it, but when you try it, it’s not that easy.

The best care you can give your window tint is to have it installed properly, wash carefully, and it should last for a very long time, at least for the life of your car.

Avoid Scratching Windows While Cleaning

When you put off the job of cleaning your windows, you know the longer you wait, the harder it is to get the windows clean. Just don’t put it off too long because no one ever notices clean windows, only the dirty one gets their attention. So while you’re gathering all the tools necessary to get the job done, just be sure to pick the correct tools in order to avoid scratching your windows.
It’s hard enough to get the job done, and you might think that the best way is to get a scraper to peel off the dirt and grime that’s collected. Don’t do it. That metal or even plastic scraper, or that pad you clean pots and pans with may scratch those delicate windows. Don’t use any harsh chemicals either. You may try washing them just like your grandmother did. Often she used vinegar mixed with water and that morning’s newspaper to dry them.

If you hate the smell of vinegar try using a product from the grocery store that guarantees clean shiny windows. Most of them work all right, but there again the smell may deter you from using them. Another helpful tool is a simple squeegee, even one on a telescopic pole works as well. Just be careful you don’t touch the window with the hard surface of the squeegee because it will scratch your window.

Dish soap and hot water work too, and you can use a sponge to apply and rinse it, then dry them with a soft towel and another dry towel to shine them. That method works best on the outside windows where you can use the garden hose to rinse the soap off. That dish soap can be used on your rose bushes to kill those nasty bugs. Just an added benefit.

There’s another easier way to get your windows clean while you avoid scratching them. That’s to hire an established window cleaning company. They do private homes as well as businesses and will get your windows cleaner than they’ve ever been without you having to spend the day washing them.

If your windows are already scratched, by someone else of course, that professional licensed and insured window cleaner will probably be able to repair those scratches. They will come to your establishment as often as you want them. Many housekeepers that you hire to clean your home, simply ‘Don’t do windows.’ The best, easiest and even cheapest way to have the cleanest windows in your neighbors is to hire the window cleaning company. You’ll never be sorry.

How to Choose the Right Professional Especially for Cleaning Home Gutters

Anytime you hire a professional or contractor to come into your home to do specific jobs for you, take the time to choose one who will accomplish the job in record time and to your specifications. We aren’t encouraging you to pick apart every professional, because you need to allow them to do their job once you’ve hired them.
When you’ve decided to find a professional who specializes in cleaning home gutters for instance, make sure the company does that particular job. You won’t hire a plumber to clean the gutters in your home. The gutter-cleaning professional will have to know the ins and outs of his business.

You may never have felt the need to clean the gutters on your home so why hire someone to do the job? A clog in the gutter system can cause irreversible damage to your home. During the year gutters collect all types of debris. Things like leaves, dirt, toys, balls, and possibly even a dead bird or even a rat. But let’s hope not.

The reason all that debris needs to be gone from your gutters is rather obvious. But possibly you’ve never considered the damage that a clogged gutter can do to your home. Water pooling in areas along your roof, will seep through the roof and down into the structure of your home. It can even go so far as dripping into the foundation. Water loose in your home can cause the wood to rot, or it can actually come to the inside flooding down the walls and the floor in several places.

So you might want to follow the very simple rules when you go online to find the right professional:

  • First like we said before make sure they specialize in cleaning gutters.
  • Second, the professional needs to be licensed and insured.
  • Third, a qualified professional should be willing to quote your job for free.
  • Fourth, you’ll want a professional who has references.
The trained specialist will know what to look for, he’ll rid the entire gutter system of the debris, and he should do it regularly. Once he shows you the stuff that he cleared from the gutter system, you’ll realize how important it is for him to do the job. He may give you a special price when you allow him to come back regularly. Remember it’s his business, and a good company will value their customers.

Consider a Window Cleaning Service As a Gift

Some people have every single material thing they want or need and it is very difficult to buy gifts for them. If you’re searching for that unusual gift for your family or friends, and you want to give them something that keeps on giving for an indefinite period of time, consider hiring a window cleaning service. You could give it for a specific   time; or the gift could be for several scheduled cleanings. Either way, the receiving party would be pleased beyond measure.
One bad feature about windows, no one ever sees them unless they’re dirty, and when they need washing, the entire house seems dirty. In today’s world who has time to clean their own windows? When every adult in a home either works full time, or attends school and works too, they put the job put off more than it gets done.

You might hire someone to clean the house, they may dust and vacuum, but rarely do they do windows. That’s because it takes so much time and effort to wash the windows inside and out, and their time is money.

There are numerous professionals that are licensed, and are hungry for business. It’s a fairly new job at a time when jobs are scarce. Thirty years ago, you’d be lucky to find someone whose business is strictly washing windows. No one thought to hire the job out.

Today, some work 24/7 just to pay for the essentials in a home. There is no time left for leisure. If you find yourself in that scenario consider hiring some of the home jobs out to the professionals. Like we said before, they are hungry for your business, and they will break their neck, not literally of course, to do a good job.

When your windows are stained, they know what products to use to get the job done and your windows will shine like never before, all of your windows. Whether you have two, four, or dozens, they’ll clean them all, inside and out.

So when you’ve found a good company that does an excellent job, send them over to a family member or friend who can’t do their own window cleaning, and tell them it’s a gift from you.

You’ll want the window cleaning professionals you use to be licensed and insured and they should guarantee their work. Some, not all, will come back if it rains within a day or two and re-do the job at no charge.

Pressure Washing Suggestions

Whether you’re doing the job yourself, or you plan on hiring a professional to do the work for you, you should still have some basic knowledge of pressure washing. You shouldn’t just buy or rent a pressure washer and start spraying. You need to take precautions as you prepare to spray.
If your house has vinyl siding, brick or stone, you should caulk those areas that have cracks in the siding. Otherwise the water seeps into the wall and may cause mold, then you’ll have bigger problems. Whatever product you use to fill in the areas, let the patching dry for at least one week before you start pressure washing.

Next take steps to protect the landscaping by covering your plants and flowers with a tarp. Be sure your windows are closed, but that’s an obvious suggestion, and don’t ever spray the water directly onto the windows.

Use the proper detergent approved for pressure washing. When you start on your house, start at the bottom and work your way to the top with the detergent. Do one area at a time because you don’t want the detergent to dry. As you spray off the detergent, start at the top and work your way down.

Before you start on the garage floor, the cement or brick driveway, patch all the cracks with the proper filling, and again let it try and settle for an entire week. Follow the same steps as we mentioned above.
If you’re doing the job yourself and have to rent the machine, find out the proper machine for the job at hand. You won’t need the most powerful machine to do simple jobs around your home. Smaller and easier to handle machines will be the best for your job.

When you hire the professionals, try to find one who knows what he is doing. Pressure washers can do a lot of damage if not used properly. References are the best bet when making your choice so ask them for references before they start.

When you see the job that pressure washers accomplish, you’ll want to use them regularly before the dirt, dust, and oil spilled on the surfaces around your home cause permanent damage. Be sure to use the proper equipment to protect yourself and others. Things like eye protectors, plastic tarps, gloves and the correct cleaning products that are made for the pressure washers. Remember pressure washers are not toys and shouldn’t be used by children.

Scratches on Glass Can Be Removed

Up until about five years ago, the only way to remove the scratches on glass would be to replace the entire piece of glass. Needless to say that is expensive no matter the size of the glass. Now there are glass scratch removal and restoration systems, and no they aren’t cheap. The cost, depending on the company, ranges from $1,600 to over $4,000 and aren’t necessarily for a single homeowner.

However, if you are in the glass business, over a period of time, that cost would pay for itself. There are businesses that deal in the restoration of glass and when you buy their system, the instructions and follow-up sessions are free. Yes we said free, and if your company has a large amount of breakage the glass restoration systems will be worth their weight.

Glass companies know that the greatest amount of breakage happens before, during and shortly after installation and with the restoration system, you can easily remove the scratches within five to thirty minutes. Larger and deeper scratches may take longer. Anytime you work around construction, breakage or simply scratches will occur. When a business takes the necessary steps to learn a new process, they will get in on the ground floor of a growing venture.

A few of the things you should know and look for when seeking any new business procedure: You’ll want to know how efficient their system is in removing scratches. Some suggest that you should use six inches as your template. Next, ask how the system works to remove deep scratches, and are there any limitations? Can the system repair the edges of glass, and how about replacement costs?

You’ll also want to know other material costs, and are there warranties provided by the company? Finally what type of training opportunities, and are they ongoing?

When your replacement glass costs reach into the thousands, you will be anxious to invest in a product that will improve your bottom line. Also it will improve your time on the job, so time and money savings will be hard to turn down.

The scratch restoration systems allow you to repair a wide variety of damage and when you consider that you’ll have an alternative solution you’ll be anxious to learn more about the product. When it’s necessary to replace damaged glass you not only pay for the glass itself, but for the labor charges, and that can be extensive. Another possibility would be to open another door for your business, and that is the glass repair business.
