Need Help Finding a Window Cleaning Service?

Like anything else, when you’re looking for a company to come to your home or business and work for you whether it’s cleaning windows, or replacing your current kitchen or bath, hire a company who has references. Some companies don’t need an established place of business, but for those doing extensive work around your home, they should without a doubt have an established business. They should also be licensed and have a printed contract that tells what, when, and the cost for the entire job.

Window cleaning services may work from their home and do the work themselves, but they still need a telephone where you can reach them when necessary, and that printed contract says they plan on being around for awhile. However if they have several employees then an established business is a must.

Where will you look first? The internet is a good place to start, your neighbors may be a better place because they’ve hired the company before. A good reference is a valuable asset to a business, and they should have many of them. Don’t be afraid to call the references and ask a few pertinent questions.

Like: were you happy with their work? Were they on time? Did they clean up after themselves? Did they have the proper tools or did they have to use yours? Did you sign a contract with them? Did they spend a lot of time on their cell phone? Did they waste time? Do they charge by the hour or by the job?

Did they charge extra to clean the screens? Did they charge extra to clean the inside of the windows as well as the outside? Will you hire them again?

If you get more than a couple of negatives, consider hiring another company. Just remember you are the boss and before you agree to hire the person to do the work, tell them exactly what you expect, and how much it will cost. Then inspect their work before you pay them, and never pay them in advance. You may never see them again.

Always come to an agreement on all of the above. If you’ve heard bad references ask them about it if you have decided to go ahead and hire them. Many customers aren’t always honest and some take advantage of honest hard working businesses. Be sure to question them about it, and contact their other references. If all of the references agree then find another business.

Cleaning Your Gutters

It’s a job no one enjoys doing, however if you ignore the job for an indefinite period of time, it may cause your roof to leak and when that happens, you’ll really have problems. If you don’t like ladders, and can’t get your gutters cleaned in any other way, you may want to hire a professional.

The ways to clean your gutters are as numerous as there are people who clean them. Everyone has their own ideas, and you may want to develop yours. One thing you’ll want to do if you drag out that old ladder is to be careful that you don’t lean the ladder against the gutters, because that will dent or damage them.

Whatever way you decide to get the job done while cleaning your gutters is to have the proper tools at hand so you’re not climbing up and down the ladder. It’s also wise, but how many of us follow those rules, it doesn’t mean we’re stupid or lazy, but then again, maybe it does. Anyway, like we said, it’s wise to protect yourself against what you’ll find up there.

Wear gloves, a dust mask and safety goggles, and we don’t need to tell you to make sure the ladder is secure before you climb up the rungs.

If you haven’t cleaned the gutters for a long time, be prepared to place the dried up leaves, dirt, dead birds or other objects into a trash bag. Don’t just swish the stuff out and let them hit the side of your home or windows. You’ll be making more work for yourself.

Scoop the stuff out with a garden trowel, if you can find one, rinse the dust and dirt toward the downspout, and if necessary scrub it clean. After it’s clean, you may decide to install screens or caps to make the job easier next time. However they aren’t cheap and they actually make the job harder. Others suggest that leaf strainers at the tops of the drains will cut down on large clogs.

If you have several trees in the area you should probably clean your gutters regularly, otherwise a couple of times a year should be sufficient. Whether you do the job yourself, or hire a professional don’t wait until the gutters are full of stuff. That stuff can rot and cause further damage to your home.
So cleaning your gutters should be a regular task and easier each time.

The Importance Of A Clean Business Exterior

The business world is made up of two types, the quick and the dead. The quick or proactive businessperson's who go to great lengths to stay one step ahead of the game as well as their competitors and are always looking to the horizon for the next boon for their business. The dead on the other hand are businesses that are content to remain stagnant during their lifetime and those businesses that don't pay much attention to making impressions on their clientele.

One of the best ways to make an impression on visiting clients is by maintaining the exterior of the business property. Business owners and managers know that they only get one chance to make a first impression and that a bad impression can mean the loss of a potential customer and possibly loss of existing business if word-of-mouth spreads unfavorably. Potential customers decide within seconds whether or not they will enter an establishment and do business with the company within based solely on the physical appearance of their business structure. Things like overflowing dumpsters, grime, on sidewalks, gum stuck on walls, and even mold are a surefire way to turn potential customers into lost business opportunities.

Bad news travels fast especially among potential and existing customers who are left with a bad taste in their mouths. This is why it's extremely important for businesses to maintain the physical appearance of the buildings. The cost is relatively inexpensive and the methods in which professionals clean business  structures is fast, efficient, and extremely effective. There many different types of companies who offer power washing services though not all are equal nor are they equally priced or fairly priced for that matter.

Business owners and managers tasked with finding a reputable and effective power washing professional need only to utilize the Internet to find one that suits their needs. Power washing can make parking lots, stucco walls, walkways made of all materials, and even parking structures look like new. Power washing removes grease, oil, dirt, debris, and of course mold all without inconveniencing a business or interrupting its daily operations or productivity.

Even if business owners believe their property exteriors to be clean, power washing can be utilized to avoid lawsuits that might come about as a result of an employee or visiting client that claims illness due to mold, injury, or as a result of slippage or falling. A professional power washing service will ensure that a business property is free from gum on sidewalks, mildew and algae as well as all of the other types of debris that can pose a hazard to visitors and employees alike.

Weather and Pressure Washing

Anytime you work outside, no matter the area, weather plays a huge part in a job well done. Although you can pressure wash during any weather, with the exception of lightening or large storms, but would you want to? The contractor doing the work may not be happy to work in the rain, but to say that it would be impossible is not a true statement.

If you plan on renting the equipment you may want to ask for a waiver in case the weather shifts so you don’t have to pay for the machine sitting idly on the ground. If you rent the machine regularly the rental company may comply. However if you use the machine once a year, he may hesitate to give you a pass due to the weather.

Pressure washers come in many styles and types and depending where you will use it you won’t want a washer that won’t perform. Ask the attendant which pressure washer will be most efficient considering the job. He will probably explain the difference between the washers.

From electric to gas powered the washers range from 1,000 to over 4,000 PSI and the more powerful are gas washers. If you rent the machine often, you may consider buying your own and although the cost would be greater as opposed to renting it. Your choice alone but checking out the different washers before you buy one is good business sense.

Not all jobs require heavy-duty washers. Smaller, easier to use power washers may do the job. If you’re a homeowner and want the washer to clean the entire house, garage floor and/or the driveway and the job needs doing regularly it may be more cost efficient to buy your own washer.
Even if that is true, you may prefer to hire a professional because the pressure washers are difficult to use and require skill. If broken windows follow you as you work your way around the house, a professional will be cheaper in the long run.

A few cautious reminders while using the pressure washer: never stand on a ladder while using the washer; never use bleach as a cleaning solution; after you spray on the cleaner, let it sit before spraying it off; wash windows at an angle, never straight on; test the pressure washer’s power before using; vents, light fixtures and windows break easily, be careful; use cleaning solutions suggested by the manufacturer. Spray horizontally from left to right. Happy Cleaning!

Orange County Window Cleaners: Cleaning Solutions

Not long ago we talked about the difference between the professional Orange County window cleaners tools/solutions and those used by the layperson/homeowner. As professional window cleaners we utilize a commercial grade cleaning solution for the windows we clean. In truth there isn't one single solution we use because all windows require something different and some chemicals can damage certain types of windows.

All of the cleaning solutions we utilize are not only of a professional grade butter nonabrasive, environmentally friendly, contain no ammonia, alkali, nor any ammonia. Furthermore the majority of them are completely biodegradable and more importantly will leave your windows looking like new when our job is done. Professional window cleaning solutions also differ from homemade solutions in that they don't create a lot of soap bubbles or suds. A low sud solution is a must for all Orange County window cleaners as solutions with lots of soap bubbles can leave streaks on any type of window. Soap bubbles or suds will not only leave streaks on windows but produce a "bleeding" effect on all windows as well.

Although it is our experience as professionals that separates us from the layperson and our competitors, the tools and solutions we use to clean your windows are important to us and we believe are important to you. Should you have any questions about the cleaning solutions we utilize on-the-job please do not hesitate to contact us!

Orange County Glass Restoration: Restore Scratched or Etched Glass

Common everyday windows may become scratched and although etching sounds good that is not the type of damage we refer to here. We refer to the damage on glass that you want removed and there are companies who claim they have the knowledge to do the job properly. In many instances your glass will have a white finish or other distortions, and the company actually caused the damage.

Many windows become damaged in transit and the window company will not guarantee against this unless they transport it. Other times construction companies are careless regarding the glass that they install before the completion of the building.

One of the most common and may be the hardest to restore is the graffiti glass on large commercial buildings. Acid-etched graffiti, common in almost every city, proves to be less effective removal, and that’s why they use it, they don’t want their artwork removed.

To claim that it’s easy and cheap to fix may be true in only one way. It is cheaper than replacing the entire window, but not easy or cheap. Some companies charge in the neighborhood of $100 per window to remove the etching and that is the starting figure.

Your best bet is to find a company who has the latest equipment that helps in bringing the glass back to its former beauty. They remove the unsightly scratches permanently without leaving the window with waviness or other imperfections.

Glass is made of organic soft material and is susceptible to damage during its entire life and when the damage occurs, a professional company finds it easy to spot.

They identify the type of damage and tell you how and if they can repair it.

Anytime you hire a company to do work of any kind in your home or business, make sure they are reputable and will do what they claim. Never pay a company up front, you may have to pay a down payment, but pay the remainder of the fees when the job is complete. Always ask for references, and make sure they have a permanent place of business.

Hiring someone off the street and paying them up front because they’ll have to buy materials to do the job, is a mistake. Don’t fall for it. There are companies that have the proper equipment to clean your damaged glass. They can’t compete with the prices you receive from that guy on the street so expect to pay more for a job well done.
